Tap Olé
Tap Dancing & Spanish Guitar
Fusion between two cultures of different styles like Spanish music and Tap dance demonstrate that the mixture is a universal language, which we blend creating new destinies and sensations.
This show is an explosion of rhythm and energy, where the spanish guitar virtuosity and passion is combined with the precision and elegance of the choreographies and the spontaneity of improvisation. There are also surprising dances like the body percussion or the sand dance, which was danced at the beginning of last century in the U.S.A. and has all but disappeared, nowadays.
The premiere of this show was in the "Chicago Human Rhythm Project" concerts at the Vittum Theatre in Chicago on May 16, 2003 with big success and received exceptional reviews in the Chicago Sun-Times and the Chicago Tribune, and also appearing at the NBC channel.
TAPOLÉ has also performed at the New York Tap Festival 2003, where the audience gave an up-standing ovation. Audience Award in the International Valladolid Festival 2004 (Spain) and big success in the Edimburgh’s Hogmanay 2005, Internacional Feet Beat Tap Festival 2006 in Helsinki and New York Tap Festival 2006 among others.
The tap dancers Guillem Alonso and Roser Font are well known international soloists, who have performed around Europe and U.S.A. in shows like Fire of Dance, Barcelona Rhythm Tap, Camut Band “Life is Rhythm”, American Tap Dance Orchestra or Manhattan Tap, among others.
The guitar players Alejandro Pérez Gràcia and Roger Raventós have been working together for years, and combine classical music skills (they are teachers of different conservatories) with influences of other styles like flamenco, rumba, latin or jazz.
